Hello everyone,

Hurricane Katrina, in her destruction, was a catalyst of much loss and suffering. As always, the duality of tragedy is bittersweet. Tragedy such as this, like 9/11 and the Tsunami, are equalizers – they effect and touch all of us regardless of who we are and what we have. The illusion of separation disappears and we are reminded of our connectedness. The word Katrina comes from a Greek word meaning ‘to cleanse and purify,’ and the people here have their attention and intention on embracing this energy to do just that.

We at Neill Corporation are committed to taking care of each other and our customers, and “doing” business. Realizing that the two are totally connected, our business is a community of people. In fact, Katrina has only deepened our commitment to supporting our customers as we support ourselves in being and doing our best. Knowing that we are all connected, this “common unity” has the potential to manifest the lives we all want.

We have established the Salon and Spa Relief Fund to assist our “family” members who were affected by this disaster in re-creating and rebuilding their businesses. You know that business generates and is the source of sustainability for people and their families. Work is something we all do – and business has both opportunity and responsibility to energize communities.

I have lived here in Louisiana for 25 years now. Growing up in the Midwest, I never expected to end up in the “Deep South.” Once I came here to visit, I was compelled by the spirit of the people, and knew I was home. There is no other place I would rather be living and working.

Finally, I want to express my deep gratitude. Gratitude for my family and my extended family at Neill Corporation and beyond. Beyond includes all the relationships I share with so many people. Our network has been so supportive and patient through these last few weeks. Thank you all. Everyday is better here in Southern Louisiana. Everyone is focused on creating a better today and tomorrow.

Much Love,

Debra Neill
